Tanya Butler
PRESIDENT
Tanya Butler is the President of Merchants Express Money
Order Company, Inc., MEMO Money Order Company, Inc., MEMO Money Order Company of
New York, Inc., and Merchants Express USA, Inc., providers of money orders,
prepaid cellular and long distance calling cards, EBT, debit and credit card
processing and walk-in bill payment services. As President, she leads the
strategic goals and objectives of the business and has fiscal responsibility at
all levels of the business. Tanya is also the President of Keystone Marketing
Services, Inc., an affiliate of MEMO and a manufacturer and seller of money
order dispensing equipment and software.
During her twenty two years (22) tenure with the company,
Tanya has been instrumental in leading and developing the internal policies and
procedures for operations, customer service, credit and collections, regulatory
licensing and the AML program. She has successfully enhanced the various
business operations systems by leading the re-engineering of the back-office
transaction processing and reconciliation system to streamline the process while
minimizing risk and controlling cost. She has led the national expansion of the
business to twenty one (21) operating states and oversees the Research and
Development Committee introducing and developing new products, services and
equipment that are consistent with strategic marketing initiatives and financial
goals. She developed the company’s first Disaster Recovery Plan and oversees the
ongoing improvements of the existing contingency plan providing a comprehensive
resource guide.
Tanya serves on the following Board of Directors -
Merchants Express Money Order Company, Inc., Keystone Marketing Services, Inc.,
and is the Chairman of the Board for the Regional Money Services Businesses
Association. She also served on the Board of the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg and
the University of Pittsburgh African American Alumni Council. She is very active
in the community volunteering time to various charities and civic organizations.
She is a charter member of the Greater Harrisburg Chapter of the National Black
MBA Association. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. –
Epsilon Sigma Omega Chapter, serving as Graduate Advisor to the Pennsylvania
State University, Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, serving on the Usher Board,
Audit Committee, Logistics Committee and the Women’s Fellowship Ministry;
National Congress of Black Women, Inc., and is the Vice President of Just Good
Friends, Inc. She has held the following elected positions – Vice President,
Secretary, Treasurer and Membership Chairman and has also chaired many local,
regional and national committees. She is the recipient of the Women of
Excellence Award from the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg, and was named Who’s Who
Among American Business Women.
Tanya earned a Master of Business
Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech
Communications and English from the University of Pittsburgh. She currently
resides in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with her husband and has an adult son
residing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
